How It Works
The tumescent technique infuses a mixture of anesthetic, salt water solution and epinephrine into the area being treated, making fat removal safer and easier. There is no need for general anesthesia or IV sedation so the entire procedure is done only with local anesthesia in the office. Tumescent liposuction removes unwanted fat and reshapes your curves, giving you a slimmer, more attractive figure while minimizing the risks associated with traditional liposuction techniques.
Tumescent liposuction provides several advantages over the traditional liposuction:
- Using local anesthesia instead of general anesthesia or IV sedation eliminates IV-related side effects and complications

In addition, Dr. Nowak utilizes the power-assisted technology which rapidly moves the small cannula back and forth so it glides easily through the tissue removing small amounts of fat at a time. This movement creates a vibration that some patients describe as being similar to a massage providing greater patient comfort. The power assisted machine is similar to an electric toothbrush.
Next, a Thermage treatment is performed to tighten and smooth your skin. Using a unique radiofrequency treatment, Thermage safely heats the deep layers of your skin as well as your collagen while protecting the surface layers of your skin. The heating process tightens your existing collagen and stimulates your body to produce new collagen. The collagen renewal process continues for up to six months after the procedure.
Patients should expect their procedure to last from 30 minutes to two hours depending on the areas being treated. Additional time will be needed for the Thermage skin tightening.
What to Expect
Shortly after procedure, you should see a noticeable difference in your shape which will continue to improve as swelling subsides.
Results can be both immediately and improve over time as sagging, wrinkled skin is replaced with smoother, younger-looking skin as your shape curves become more defined. Comparison photos are taken typically 6 weeks after the procedure. Although the healing is not complete, it’s enough to see good visible comparison. Skin tightening form Thermage treatment can continue for up to 6 months after your treatment.
The Nowak ThermaLipo procedure is known as a weekend procedure where patients can have the procedure done on a Thursday or Friday and can be back to work Monday or Tuesday.
You may be asked to wear a pressure garment for days or weeks after your treatment to help the skin contract and the speed the healing process.
