Now you see it, now you don’t! Tattoo Removal San Diego

In his years of practice as a cosmetic surgeon, Dr. Nowak come across countless stories of how people ended up having inked and why they want these tattoos removed.  Before the inception of tattoo removal procedures, people were forced to live with the memory of an unwanted tattoo.

There are various options available for patients in San Diego when it comes to tattoo removal.  The best technique that should be used depends on how big the tattoo is, the degree of scarring, the type of ink that was used, and how the ink was introduced to the skin surface.

Dermabrasion can be compared to sanding down the skin surface to get rid of the tattoo.  This procedure works best for tattoos that lie on the skin surface and extends only up to the middle surface of the skin.  Dermabrasion involves the removal of the tattoo using a fast rotating device that is applied to the skin.  Compared to all other tattoo removal methods, dermabrasion is the least expensive.

Tattoos can also be removed through surgical excision.  Compared to all other tattoo removal techniques, surgical excision is the most invasive because this involves surgically removing the skin in order to get rid of the tattoo.  This procedure is generally recommended in the removal of small tattoos that does not require that much skin surface to be removed.  Once the tattoo is removed, the area will be closed off with stitches.  Although the process requires surgery, it guarantees that there will be no trace of your tattoo left.

Laser technology is now being widely used in cosmetic procedures and laser tattoo removal has become very popular among my patients in San Diego because of its effectiveness.  Laser therapy is becoming the treatment of choice when it comes to tattoo removal because it is less invasive compared to surgery and dermabrasion and it has very minimal downtime.  Laser therapy involves introducing pulses of light in to the skin surface and the high intensity light works by breaking down the pigments of the tattoo.  It will take several sessions in order to achieve the desired result but it will sure be well worth it because it is guaranteed to work.  Patients prefer this type of tattoo removal technique because it’s painless, less invasive, virtually no downtime, and it leaves the surrounding skin tissues around the tattoo undamaged.  When it comes to tattoo removal technique, this is by far the latest and the best!
